Reconnect & Regulate

An 8-Week Programme for Emotional Understanding, Nervous System Awareness and Connection

Reconnect & Regulate is an eight-week small-group learning experience designed to support people in gently returning to themselves after stress, trauma or periods of emotional overwhelm.

It offers a calm and supportive space to better understand your nervous system, strengthen self-awareness and develop practical tools for regulation and connection.

This programme is not about fixing what is wrong. It is about understanding what has happened — and learning how to come home to yourself again.


What Does It Mean to Reconnect & Regulate?

Reconnect & Regulate means returning to yourself.

It is the process of gently coming back into your body, your emotions, your relationships and your truth after trauma or chronic stress has pulled you away.

It is about rebuilding a sense of safety within, so that your nervous system no longer has to remain in survival mode. As regulation strengthens, many people begin to feel more present, more grounded and more open to connection — first with themselves, then with others.

When we are dysregulated, life can feel chaotic or numb. We may feel constantly on edge, shut down or caught in patterns we cannot fully explain.

Regulation is not about perfection. It is about understanding what is happening inside us and learning how to respond rather than react.


What Makes This Programme Unique?

Reconnect & Regulate is grounded in our person-centred TRUST Framework:

Trigger | Reassurance | Understanding | Safety | Truth

This framework supports participants to recognise their experiences with compassion, develop emotional understanding and rebuild a sense of internal safety at a pace that feels manageable and respectful.

Throughout the programme, participants are gently introduced to practical, evidence-informed ideas that help make sense of emotional experience and nervous system responses, including:

• understanding emotional dysregulation
• polyvagal theory and nervous system responses
• neuroception — how the body detects safety and threat automatically
• somatic awareness and body-based regulation
• the window of tolerance
• neuroplasticity and the possibility of change

Rather than focusing on what is wrong, the programme helps people understand how their system has been trying to protect them — and how new patterns can begin to emerge from that understanding.


What the 8-Week Programme Looks Like

Reconnect & Regulate is a structured eight-week journey. Each session introduces a theme that supports emotional awareness, nervous system understanding and relational confidence.

Week 1 – Creating Safety
Understanding the nervous system, trauma responses and the importance of inner safety. Learning to track emotional states and begin strengthening reassurance and self-worth from within.

Week 2 – Congruence
Exploring the relationship between our inner experience and how we present ourselves in the world. Reflecting on authenticity and the quiet ways we sometimes hide parts of ourselves in order to stay safe.

Week 3 – Persona
Recognising the masks we wear and the survival strategies behind them, including people-pleasing, avoidance and perfectionism — understood with compassion rather than judgement.

Week 4 – Attunement
Deepening awareness of how life experiences shape perception, empathy and connection. Recognising patterns of disconnection and miscommunication as adaptations that can begin to change.

Week 5 – Communication
Exploring how nervous system state shapes communication, including tone, body language and facial expression, alongside an introduction to neuroception — the body’s automatic detection of safety or threat.

Week 6 – Flow
Moving beyond thinking into body awareness. Introducing gentle regulation practices including Qigong, EFT and somatic awareness.

Week 7 – Permission
Reclaiming the right to take up space, set boundaries and experience joy. Understanding hypervigilance and learning to respond with greater confidence and self-respect.

Week 8 – Connection
Reflecting on the journey and recognising what has shifted. Understanding regulation as an ongoing practice and strengthening the ability to return to yourself when challenges arise.

Healing does not mean we never feel triggered. It means we learn how to come home to ourselves when we do.

Reconnect & Regulate is supported by a small team of practitioners who bring together trauma-informed understanding, reflective learning and gentle movement practices to create a safe and welcoming group experience.

Deborah developed the Reconnect & Regulate programme to support people in returning to themselves after periods of stress, trauma or emotional overwhelm. Her work focuses on strengthening self-awareness, understanding nervous system responses and rebuilding confidence through compassionate relational learning.

Gilly introduces gentle Qigong practices that support nervous system regulation, body awareness and emotional balance, helping participants reconnect with movement, breath and energy in accessible and grounding ways.
