Deborah J Crozier

I am Deborah J. Crozier, a Trauma-Informed Counsellor and Advocate for Safer Futures.

As a Chartered Fellow Member of the ACCPH, I bring over 30 years of experience supporting mental health and emotional wellbeing across diverse settings. My approach is rooted in person-centred practice, lived experience, and a deep commitment to creating emotionally safe spaces for individuals and communities.

I am currently undertaking a postgraduate Master’s degree in Contemporary Drug and Alcohol Studies at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS), further expanding my capacity to support individuals affected by trauma, addiction, and systemic barriers to recovery.

Through my work with A Positive Start CIC, I offer trauma-informed training, parent empowerment programs, and consultancy for organisations seeking to improve safeguarding culture, emotional regulation, and relational connection — particularly within schools and community-based services.

The founder of A Positive Start CIC — an organisation rooted in healing, connection, and social change –  My work was born from lived experience: I know what it means to survive trauma, to feel silenced, and to find your way back — slowly, bravely — to your own voice.

I specialise in supporting people who feel emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, or dismissed — often by systems that were supposed to care. Through workshops like Reconnect & Regulate and STAND: Parents as Protectors, I help people make sense of their nervous system responses, build emotional safety, and rediscover their right to take up space.

What I offer isn’t something AI or automation can replicate. It’s grounded in relational presence, embodied safety, and the capacity to hold another human being in their truth — without judgement, without rush. I meet people where they are, honour who they’ve been, and walk with them as they reclaim who they are becoming.

Whether you’re a survivor seeking steady ground, a parent learning to protect without fear, or a professional longing to practise with more depth and care — you’re welcome here.

Let’s start with awareness. Let’s move with compassion. Let’s create a future that feels safe to live in.
