If we are lucky,
we’ll share this earth
For four score years & ten.
A world leased without fences or borders,
Constructions of paranoid men.
Our Landlord must be highly amused,
As his nations we split and divide,
As though we were the rightful owners,
With the power to judge and decide.
A reminder; that we are all merely His guests,
Our tenancy agreement – short term.
Peaceful, compassionate, tolerant ideas,
Are the lessons our children should learn.
Communication is all that we have,
We cannot engage through stone,
Build bridges, not borders, the memo should read,
To the tenants of this temporary home!
