Pregnancy, Infant Loss & Infertility Support

Accredited specialist support with Deborah J Crozier MSc, Dip. Couns., Chartered Fellow ACCPH

Pregnancy loss, infant loss and infertility can affect every part of a person’s world.

There may be grief, shock, anger, fear, guilt, numbness, physical changes, relationship difficulties or a profound sense that life has changed in a way other people do not fully understand.

There is no correct way to experience loss.

I offer compassionate, person-centred and trauma-informed therapeutic support to individuals and couples following pregnancy or infant loss, and to those experiencing infertility or undergoing fertility treatment.

I am an Accredited Foundation for Infant Loss Training Practitioner, with specialist practitioner training in pregnancy and infant loss and infertility

Support that recognises your individual experience

You may be seeking support following:

  • Miscarriage or early pregnancy loss
  • Stillbirth
  • Neonatal or infant loss
  • Termination for medical reasons
  • Pregnancy following previous loss
  • Fertility difficulties or infertility
  • IVF or other fertility treatment
  • Involuntary childlessness
  • The loss of the future you had imagined
  • Anxiety, grief or trauma following your experience
  • Difficulties returning to work or everyday life
  • The impact of loss on relationships or family life

Partners are welcome to access support in their own right.

Loss affects people differently, and partners can sometimes feel they need to remain strong for somebody else while their own grief receives very little recognition

Pregnancy after loss

A subsequent pregnancy can bring hope and joy alongside significant fear.

Appointments, scans, dates, bodily sensations and milestones can all carry very different meanings following a previous loss.

Support can provide a safe place to explore those feelings without being told how you should feel, or being expected simply to “move on”.

Infertility and fertility treatment

Infertility can involve its own complex experience of grief.

Repeated investigations, treatment cycles, uncertainty, waiting, disappointment and decisions about the future can place enormous emotional pressure on individuals and relationships.

Support is available whether you are currently undergoing fertility treatment, considering your options, have completed treatment or are coming to terms with involuntary childlessness.

A person-centred, trauma-informed approach

My work begins with the person rather than a diagnosis or predetermined pathway.

You do not need to tell your story in a particular way, reach particular milestones or follow somebody else’s timetable for grief.

Our work may include making sense of what has happened, understanding trauma responses, managing difficult triggers and anniversaries, rebuilding feelings of safety, exploring relationships and finding ways of living alongside what has happened.

Sometimes therapy is about change. Sometimes it is simply about having somewhere you do not need to pretend that you are okay.

Professional referrals

I also welcome enquiries and referrals from healthcare professionals, community organisations and employers supporting people affected by pregnancy loss, infant loss or infertility.

This may include GPs, maternity services, fertility services, health visitors, bereavement teams, charities, community organisations and workplace wellbeing or HR teams.

The practitioner training particularly encourages building clear professional referral pathways so families can access longer-term emotional support when they need it. Pract part4 Marketing (1)

I can also provide information and training around compassionate, trauma-informed communication and supporting people following pregnancy and infant loss.
